How to Make a Circle Cake Without a Circle Pan
Whether you’re an experienced baker or just starting out, there may come a time when you need to make a circular cake but don’t have a dedicated circle pan. But worry not, as there are simple methods to achieve a perfectly round cake shape using items you probably already have in your kitchen.
Step 1: Gather your ingredients and preheat the oven to the recommended temperature for your cake recipe.
Step 2: Prepare the cake batter according to the instructions of your chosen recipe. Be sure to mix the ingredients thoroughly until you achieve a smooth and homogeneous consistency.
Step 3: Find a round oven-safe bowl or dish with a diameter similar to the size you desire for your cake. Make sure it is oven-safe and can withstand the baking temperature specified in your recipe.
Step 4: Grease the inside of the bowl or dish with butter or cooking spray. This will prevent the cake from sticking to the sides and facilitate easy removal after baking.
Step 5: Pour the prepared cake batter into the greased bowl or dish. Fill it to around two-thirds full to allow ample room for rising during baking.
Step 6: Place the bowl or dish with the batter on a baking sheet and carefully transfer it to the preheated oven. Bake for the duration specified in your recipe, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Step 7: Once the cake is fully baked, remove it from the oven and let it cool in the bowl or dish for a few minutes. Lightly run a butter knife around the edges to help loosen it.
Step 8: Place a cooling rack over the top of the cake, then carefully flip it over. Gently tap the bottom of the bowl or dish to release the cake. If it doesn’t come out easily, use the knife to help release it further.
And voila! You have successfully made a circle cake without a circle pan!
Tips: It’s important to adjust the baking time as needed, as a cake baked in a different-shaped container may require more or less time than specified in your recipe. Additionally, consider using a round parchment paper or baking paper cut to size and placed at the bottom of the greased bowl or dish for easier cake release.
Now that you know this handy technique, you can confidently bake your circular cakes even without owning a dedicated circle pan. Happy baking!
